On August 11th, 2015, the final race cars from the Richard Petty Driving Experience were removed from the Walt Disney World speedway and major roadway signage was replaced. Announcements were made in early 2015 that a closure of the speedway would be taking place sometime early that summer. The official last day of operations was August 9th, 2015.
