Peter Pan’s Flight is a classic dark ride in Fantasyland where guests can fly like Peter and Tink. From soaring over rooftops in the city of London to coasting over the magical Neverland. It is a perfect ride for those who don’t want to grow up and experience the story of Peter Pan.

Peter Pan’s Flight was an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom on October 1st, 1971 and was classified as a ‘C-Ticket’ attraction and has remained relatively unchanged since opening 45 years ago. This classic dark ride is the last of it’s kind in Fantasyland. All the other dark rides that once stood in Fantasyland have been replaced, therefore this is as classic as it gets for guests who enjoy the animated classics. The ride vehicles consists of flying pirate ships running on an overhead omnimover system. When the attraction opened in Disneyland in 1955, guests were surprised to find that Peter Pan was no where to be seen in the attraction. That was because Walt’s original idea was that guests themselves were living the story of Peter Pan, and were experiencing the attraction through his perspective. When guests expressed their disappointment, Walt caved in and made sure that Peter Pan could be seen throughout. This was especially so when the attraction was built in Florida. In fact, when the Magic Kingdom’s version was built, a new series of audio animatronics were used for Peter and other characters. The attraction can be found in every single Magic Kingdom-style park, from California to Tokyo. The only exception is in Hong Kong Disneyland.

This attraction is extremely popular with guests at the Magic Kingdom. After Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, this is the second most popular attraction in Fantasyland. Guests should expect the standby queue to hit 50 minutes in the morning hours and stay consistently around 70 to 90 minutes on a typical day at the Magic Kingdom. This is a good Fastpass+ recommendation for groups traveling with small children. For groups with teens who enjoy the big rides, we would recommend booking your 4th FP+ reservation for this attraction, saving other favorites like Space Mountain for your initial three. It is usually easy to book a 4th FP+ for Peter Pan’s Flight. Because of the ride vehicle’s clever design using large sails to obstruct guests from seeing the next scene or car, you always get a good view no matter what side you are sitting on. There are plenty of scenes to look at from above on both the right and left side of the ride vehicle.
