In his weeks episode of Beyond the Kingdoms, I take you on a tour of the hub of Animal Kingdom, Discovery Island. This land serves as a jumping off point into other lands around the park. But the details are just as rich as they are in Africa and Asia. Since this land is located at the very heart of Animal Kingdom, the buildings reflects the architectural style of countries found near the middle of the globe at the equator. Shopping and dining is an essential part of Discovery Island, and this land offers the most locations to both eat and shop. But the Tree of Life is really what this land is all about. Standing at over 140 feet high, the park's icon is Disney's finest work of art. There are over 300 animal carvings on the tree from down at the roots, all the way up to the branches.
