On March 24, 2012, while the new Disney Fantasy cruise ship was on her Inaugural preview cruise, the Disney Dream sailed by just in time for the evening's fireworks display on both ships. At around 10:30 p.m., the Dream launched the Buccaneer Blast fireworks show, part of Pirates in the Caribbean, offering passengers aboard the Fantasy a once-in-a-lifetime view of the spectacular at sea. Then Dream passengers were treated to the same view as the Fantasy launched the same fireworks show. As the Dream sailed away, the Fantasy sounded her horn in a variety of tunes, trying to get the Dream to respond in a horn battle, but the Dream did not participate this time.
