Ready to experience the wildest ride in the wilderness? ~Hop~ aboard Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland Park in Frontierland.
Step into Rainbow Ridge, the town that was once known as the “biggest little boom town in the
West.” Rumor has it that the abandoned mine train is cursed and trains have been seen running without any conductors. This train speeds through mineshafts (0:34), caverns and caves, but watch out for falling rocks, earthquakes and bats! Listen for the howl of coyotes as you pass through a cave full of stalactites (1:01). Catch a glimpse of the dynamite goat (2:05) at the top of the hill before you drop into the mining camp. Pass through a T. rex skeleton (3:14) before returning to Rainbow Ridge. Does Big Thunder Mountain look familiar? The rock decorations in Big Thunder Mountain were inspired by Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Look for hidden Mickeys in the abandoned gears, wagon wheels and even cacti. Need a little encouragement? Take a closer look at your train engine! The names of the trains are U.B. Bold, U. R. Courageous, I.M. Loco, U.R. Daring and I.B. Hearty. Big Thunder Mountain also exists at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Park in Paris. For an entirely different thrill, ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at night.
